FALL/WINTER 2017 UPDATE: Bilingual Storytimes in Spanish/English, Finances, and all that jazz
How have you been? Are you eating well? Are you keeping warm? We have been a little chilly! The fan above the library door was letting in quite a bit of cold air, but we've covered it up with some insulating bubble wrap and it gets downright toasty now! With the wrap and extra blankets and rugs and teas the library is feeling cozier than ever. 4pm sunsets be damned.
Though we have had some challenges internally and financially, thanks to our wonderful, kind, generous, hard-working library women, supporters and mentors we are now nearly 400 members strong, with over 30 volunteers. Almost all of our donated books are catalogued and our multilingual collection is steadily growing.
Many thanks to the support of:
We are also grateful to:
Patrice, Deb, Mairead, Julia, Chris, Ana, Maryam, Stephanie, Mariana, Tara, Karla, Kate, and Julie for their generous donations, their kind practical help, encouragement, and moral support.
Special shout-outs to Sera and Matina for sending chills down our spines at our first Open Mic Night ever last Saturday. We cannot wait til the next one - Dec. 9th!
And as always to our many volunteers who keep the library open, warm, and welcoming to all - you are the library and you are amazing. Thank you.
Soon we will be launching a Patreon campaign to help ensure we can keep this vital space and continue serving women & girls. In the meantime, could we trouble you to visit our fundraising page? Our rent is $1575 a month and we are struggling to make ends meet. Any amount would help. Even if you aren't able to contribute financially, your feedback and advice on any aspect of fundraising would be much appreciated.
With ALL that said, we hope you'll enjoy this roundup of some of our upcoming events! All of the following are viewable in calendar form on our home page.
