THE OG FINAL (1).png

Tayybeh is a social enterprise that supports newly-arrived Syrian women in Vancouver by putting together community based dining experiences. By showcasing beautiful and authentic dishes from their hometowns in Syria, the women of Tayybeh have access to an income and financial independence. Working together, they build connections with other women and interact with the communities they live in. All while doing something they love: cooking delicious homestyle Syrian food!

The word "tayybeh" in Arabic is the feminine construction that means "kind", and in the colloquial Levantine dialect means "delicious."

The Vancouver Women's Library is a free lending library, resource network, and community space for and by women and girls. We are 100% volunteered powered and donations funded, with plans to establish ourselves as a non-profit community service co-op by year's end. This March marks 1 year in our current space at 1255 Kingsway. We value intercultural, intergenerational, and multilingual respect, learning, and exchange, and the freedom to read, think and organize - all in a room of our own.

This event is open to all genders, abilities, and mobilities. The Russian Hall is wheelchair accessible via ramp and lift, with a single stall bathroom near the downstairs hall. With advance notice we will provide ASL interpretation.

If cost is a barrier, please see the following form to get on our waitlist for donated tickets. We regret that we cannot offer tickets at sliding scale to this event due to the urgent need for fundraising to secure our rent.
